La Résidence au verger, or 'Orchard House' is a bright and spacious village holiday home beside the beautiful Mervent Forest. Large enclosed gardens and orchard where you can help yourself to fruit in season (plums, apples, pears, cherries, grapes). The house sleeps 10 plus a cot, with 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Large south facing terrace for relaxing or outdoor meals, overlooking the countryside with the spire of Fontenay Cathedral in the distance.

The living/dining room has French TV, and the living room/library has UK TV. Both TVs have DVD players. Unlimited free WIFI. The library has lots of books in French and English, toys and games. Downstairs there is a games cupboard with badminton, boules, buckets and spades for the beach, tennis racquets, footballs etc.

The garden has swings and a slide for children, and in the house there is a small games room with darts and table football; there is table tennis in the garage, and junior snooker downstairs.

The 5 bedrooms consist of 2 doubles, 1 king, a twin and a bunk bed room. There is one family bathroom, and two en-suites with shower/toilet.

The main kitchen is well equipped and has a breakfast bar and patio doors opening out onto the south facing terrace which is perfect for meals out, under the shady awning if required. Lots of crockery, pans, oven, gas hob, microwave, kettle, toaster.

Bikes can be hired locally, or our partners bikehiredirect can deliver bikes to and collect from the property. The area is fantastic for cycling and there is a cycle route into historic Fontenay (3 or 4km) where there are many lovely restaurants. Mervent forest equally has miles of cycle paths and some lovely forest restaurants to discover en route.
The forest has miles of cycle paths and footpaths, there are areas where you can swim in the lakes and fishing permits are available from the local tourist information.
The Vendée beaches are less than an hour away, and about an hour away is the fabulous theme park Puy du Fou, and Futuroscope theme park at Poitiers.
