It was with this unusual film that maestro Fellini made his name in France: critics and audiences were unanimous in their praise. Giulietta Masina was described as the "female Charlie Chaplin". The story of this marginal couple formed by the sad clown Gelsomina and the great Zampano is imbued with gentle poetry and served up by the eternal music of Nino Rota.
